Common Questions About Exporting from Tanzania

Straight answers about sourcing, quality, the Warehouse Receipt System, and how Seedstone exports quality crops to international buyers.

What does Seedstone do?

Seedstone is a Tanzanian agricultural export company that connects international buyers with quality commodities from across Tanzania. Operating through a structured Warehouse Receipt System (WRS), the company integrates sourcing, quality grading, warehousing, clearing and forwarding, and logistics into one end-to-end export solution, giving buyers a single trusted point of contact from order to delivery.

The Warehouse Receipt System is a structured framework Seedstone uses to handle, store, and prepare commodities as they move through the export process. It supports proper grading and quality checks at source, aggregated storage in certified warehouses, and traceable documentation — so every consignment meets the agreed quality, volume, and market specifications before dispatch.

Seedstone facilitates the sourcing and export of a diversified portfolio of Tanzanian agricultural commodities, including raw cashew nuts as well as processed and de-shelled cashews, cereals, coffee, cocoa, and legumes. Current product lines on the site cover cashewnut, coffee, sesame, and pigeon peas for bulk export.

Seedstone coordinates every transaction around a clear seven-step process: 1) Client brief — you share the commodity, specification, quantity, packaging, destination, and delivery timeline; 2) Sourcing and availability check — suitable producers and aggregators are identified and quality confirmed against the brief; 3) Commercial offer; 4) Agreement and payment terms; 5) Preparation and quality checks — commodities are aggregated, graded, packed, and inspected; 6) Documentation and dispatch — export and shipping documents are compiled and the consignment is dispatched; and 7) Delivery support through to final delivery.

Seedstone sources from key agricultural regions across Tanzania. For example, cashewnuts are sourced directly from growers and AMCOS (Agricultural Marketing Co-operative Societies) in the Mtwara region, and coffee is sourced from regions such as Mbeya. Working at source allows Seedstone to verify quality early and lock in supply before the market tightens.

Every lot is graded by trained field teams against your kernel count, moisture, and defect specifications before it leaves the growing region, so sub-standard produce never reaches your order. Commodities are aggregated, graded, packed, and inspected as required, and each batch is traceable back to its originating grower or AMCOS.

Yes. Buyers can source raw cashew nuts directly or opt for processed and de-shelled cashews where processing is required, giving you flexibility to purchase the product form that suits your market. All forms are prepared to your specification with full documentation from sourcing to shipment.

Seedstone provides six core export services: direct sourcing from growers and AMCOS, exporting, auction sourcing through the TMX (Tanzania Mercantile Exchange), clearing and forwarding, godown-to-port logistics, and order tracking from godown to port for every consignment.
